GO-FO-JOe
This past weekend we had the pleasure of watching the brilliant documentary Craigslist Joe. In summary, it's about a smart chap named Joe who conducts a month-long experiment to see if he can survive solely off of Craiglist. He documented it on film, and crafted 90 minutes of movie that restores your faith in the diversity of people in the world, and the fact that there are many folks who are interested in sharing and doing good.
Most importantly, he showed how technology can be used to bring people closer together.
It is our hope that Good Food Jobs does the same. Although we're not nearly as expansive as Craigslist, we love how Good Food Jobs brings people together over a subject that we all believe in: good food for all.
And while we don't think Joe will be knocking down our door to do an updated documentary called GO-FO-JOe (but we're here, Joe, if you change your mind!?), we're inspired to start our own experiment to see how you've used Good Food Jobs to change your own life.
So please: tell us your story. Examples can include (but are not limited to):
-
You got a job!
-
And you moved as a result.
-
You enrolled in a program that you saw posted on GFJ (like Vermont's Table).
-
You showed your parents the Good Food Jobs website to prove that food as a legitimate field of study / work.
-
You met someone unexpected at GFJday.
-
You met someone at a market and bonded over your love of Good Food Jobs.
-
You read the 'Why I Cried Project' and felt like you weren't alone.
-
You made a friend via an event we told you about.
-
You hired someone who has changed your business for the better.
As we approach our 5,000th job posting, we get more and more excited by the positive progress in this real food economy - and the role that each individual plays in it.

EAT RETREAT 2012
October 26-28
Hidden Villa, Northern California
Created for leaders in the food community, Eat Retreat is an immersion weekend to explore the boundaries of sustainable and creative good eats. The objective of Eat Retreat is to celebrate a shared joy for food with food-making demos, cooking workshops, and taste training. This year, get down on the farm at Hidden Villa, a nonprofit education center that teaches about and produces sustainable food on 1600 acres of open space, with lessons in healthy agriculture practices and discussions about challenges facing our food system.
We’re excited to announce that Dorothy will be attending this year’s Eat Retreat, and there's still time to join her! Chefs, foodmakers, activists, farmers, photographers, writers, bloggers, community organizers, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply by this Friday’s deadline.

Revolution Landscape
We always like hearing constructive criticism, and it never hurts our feelings when it comes in the form of a request for MORE Good Food Jobs. In Jeff's case, it was a shout out from San Diego that he wants to see more opportunities for San Diegans (is it just us, or do you think of Ron Burgundy when you say that?) on our site. Perhaps he wasn't thinking of himself when he made the suggestion, but we're so impressed with what Jeff is doing out West that we don't mind hoodwinking him. Especially because his advice is great, and it was made just for you. Read more...
Do you have a question for Jeff about making your own landscape more edible? Ask away via the comments section.
