Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
Since chances that we will meet in person someday are slim, I wanted to introduce myself and let you know I love what you guys do. I look forward to reading your gastronomes blog each week, and enjoy being inspired by all the great local food stuff going on out there.

We can't quite put our finger on the feeling we get while watching the Olympics. It simultaneously inspires such great hope and encouragement - a feeling like anything is possible - and also seems overwhelming when it makes you wonder, "What will be my gold medal moment?" (because we can pretty much guarantee that for us, personally, it will not be breaking the world record in the 4x100 relay, nor winning a third straight victory in beach volleyball)
Even so, it inspires us to do more of what we are good at. And it proves that when we couple our natural abilities with a lot of practice, good things - celebration-worthy things - can happen.
In this week's events, we're happy to report our official countdown to our 5,000th job mark (we're currently at 4,820).
While 5,000 jobs seems quite small, considering there are 330 million people that live in the US alone, we're proud of the fact that there are 5,000+ people out there changing the world for the better.
Just like the Olympians, we'll keep striving to smash our records, in the hopes that people will not settle for being spectators, but active participants in events that shape the course of human history.

Free Bread, Inc
We've encountered many a carnivore who had nothing but criticism for vegetarians, and many an omnivore who would dismiss any diet ending in the word 'free.' But with the rise of food-related allergies and the increasing realization that the vast majority of food out there just might be covered with, packed in, or baked into something toxic, we feel it's time to put these differences aside and join together as one, in the name of good health and good taste. And Karen knows a lot about both. Read more...
