Job description

Cook 'n Scribble, the online food writer's community, is presenting the LongHouse Food Writers Revival in Renselaerville, NY on September 15. This one-day, single subject conversation features some of the nation's leading food thinkers and is dedicated to "Old Media, New Media and the False Divide."

The event includes a "Pop-Up Food Magazine," multimedia presentations, intimate conversations, a farm-to-table dinner and a 3-pig roast. We are seeking an intern with significant editorial experience to assist in research and production of the Pop-UP Food Magazine and its companion 'Zine.

Candidate should love food, food stories and food people, be computer savvy, fluent in online publishing, intredpeid, hardworking, well-organized, self-motivating and fun.

This is a one-month un-paid internship for immediate hire, 20 hours per week, that offers particpation in the event, printed acknowlegement and the possiblitiy of growing into a paying position in a fast growing, forward looking team of content creators.  

Responsiblities:
-researching content for the zine, including archival photography, recipes, poetry, cultural material, etc.
-coordinating with LongHouse event staff and contributors to collect content
-organizing, copyediting and managing content flow.
-copyediting all material for zine

Qualifications:
-love of food, history, and multimedia storytelling
-familiarity with zines, magazines, and/or other printed food-related publications
-great computer skills (computer design skills a major plus)
-excellent writing and copyediting skills-ability to work on a deadline
-extremely organized
-loves working with a fun, creative, imaginative team
