Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

What is it about the middle of January that makes us feel like we're running in place? The New Year brings excitement and anticipation, the best motivation for getting all your ducks in a row: your refrigerator cleaned out, your holiday decorations back in the closet, and a fat, clean to-do list beckoning from the desk.
And then, after only a couple of weeks have passed, you find yourself running out of patience. You keep crossing things off the to-do list, but it's less satisfying somehow - your productive itch just can't be scratched.
It's not unlike watching a six-month-old baby eat her first meal: on the outside, you're watching a slow, frustrating mess unfold. But if you can take a moment to relax, to let your wheels stop spinning, you'll find that something very important and fundamental is taking place. So even when that chubby hand misses its mark, and the avocado winds up somewhere behind her ear...miraculously, it's a success.
Whether you're in the daily grind of gainful employment, or pounding the pavement in search of that elusive offer, pondering the future can leave you feeling worn out with nothing to show for it. We're here to remind you that just when you think you can't make it one step further, a savior appears on the horizon: the internet. Below you'll find our favorite blogs for 'wasting' time. Here's to taking a creative break from the neverending race.
Smitten Kitchen: for a dose of kitchen inspiration and a generous pinch of humor.
Oh Happy Day: A much-needed visual feast for those of us with a cubicle view, plus endless inspiration for the crafty and the wannabe-crafty.
the gastrognomes: It's sort of cheating, but we can't help it. We're genuinely amazed by the community made up of each and every one of you.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Okay, we admit that it's kind of cheating to feature someone who doesn't have a real job in food yet, but it's yet another opportunity to highlight the spectrum of ways to pursue your passion. So in case you're not independently wealthy, and actually have to pay bills and bank loans, Noah proves that you can exercise your interests while you figure out exactly where you fit in the food world.
