Job description

We are currently seeking a person to help with the following areas:

1. The Seasonal Food Guide (SFG): (estimated 3-4 weeks)
Conduct research, data entry, and data validation, as follows:

  • Conduct local food and farming research for the Seasonal Food Guide project:
    • Seasonality of specific produce items: Conduct online research and, if necessary, call local ag extensions to collect peak season information by state for specific produce items.
  • Enter/update data in Excel spreadsheet from harvest calendars, online research, and phone research.
    • Keep track of all sources used for data

 

2. Photo organization, tagging, and metadata: (estimated 2 weeks)

Organize, tag, and create metadata for GRACE’s extensive library of photographs, as follows:

  • Using general tagging structure provided to consultant, tag photos by source, quality, content, size, and other attributes as provided by supervisor.
  • Write photo descriptions, metadata, and captions as necessary and assigned by supervisor.

3. Contacts database cleanup and data entry/transfer: (estimated 1-2 weeks)
Assist with the creation of a new press and organizations contacts database, as follows:

  • Combine a number of different spreadsheets into one online relational database by conducting data entry and data cleaning.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills & qualifications:

  • BA or BS (or on track to receive a BA or BS)
  • Food, gardening, or food-related horticultural knowledge
  • Expertise in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Database/relational database experience a plus
  • Photography/design experience a plus

 

Duration: Temporary (total project estimated 6-8 weeks)
Rate: $25/hr

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15/hr +
