Cousins’ Garden of Rumson, NJ is seeking a Farm Manager for the 2017 season. Cousins’ Garden is a non-profit farm founded in Rumson with a mission to provide local, fresh, and healthy food to those who don’t have access, currently through a partnership with Lunch Break of Red Bank, NJ. Cousins' Garden is a collection of privately owned garden-farms in the Monmouth County area, which exist to provide a source of fresh, healthy, and locally-grown food to area food pantries. The seed of Cousins' Garden was born from a single family, who noticed the immense need for fresh produce among the more impoverished cities in our community. This seed has since grown and now includes multiple locations. Cousins' Garden uses only sustainable and low-impact growing methods to raise 50+ varieties of fruits and vegetables.

Job description

The Farm Manager position is an opportunity for those to gain more experience in the field working directly with the Cousins’ Garden Farm Program and Lunch Break Partnership. The Farm Manager will work directly with the other Farm Manager for a commitment of 40 hours/week from March-November.

The Farm Manager will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks including seeding, planting, weekly maintenance, harvesting and washing of produce, composting, and other various tasks. 

The Farm Manager will be expected to work, both as part of a team, and independently at multiple garden locations. He/She will also be required to occasionally oversee and manage a small group of volunteers. 

The ideal applicant will demonstrate the following:

• 2+ years of relative experience growing food
• Ability to perform physical labor with a variety of hand tools
• Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
• A hardworking and positive attitude
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Experience working with non-profits
• Social Media and Grant Writing skills a plus 

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15/hr +
