Job description
As Tovala’s Sous Chef, you will play an integral role in imagining, creating and producing our Tovala meals. You’ll work directly with, and learn from, our Chief Culinary Officer, Alexander Plotkin. We’ll rely on you to help in the test kitchen, create new recipes, test existing recipes, expand our offerings beyond dinner, etc. Unlike traditional food industry roles, we’re also a technology company, meaning that you’ll be working very closely with a diverse team of engineers, designers and business-people.

About the role:
Food is one of the pillars of our business – and our company has grown to the point where it’s time to expand our food team. You will work very closely with Chef Plotkin on the different parts of our food business.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Testing Chef Plotkin’s recipes (for flavor, texture, shelf-life, etc.)
- Coming up with your own recipes
- Preparing meals for events and meetings
- Helping source, vet and test ingredients
- Consulting with our engineering team as they build version 2 of our oven
