Position Overview

Foodshed is seeking a business development manager who can build, strengthen, and maintain our internal team and external business relations. For the first few months, the emphasis of this position will be on business development.  Responsibilities will include sales and marketing to local restaurants and farms and assisting with the fundraising process. This position is exclusively for someone who is local to New York with an interest in entering the fast-paced world of a small tech startup, and who has demonstrated competency and a strong interest in local food distribution systems.

The candidate will be someone with relevant experience and connections in the local food space; experience with environmental advocacy groups, local restaurants, food co-ops, and the agricultural technology sector are a plus. The candidate will bring their own network and relevant experience (professionally, academically and personally) to our already well-connected group. We are looking for someone who is able to leverage their relationships and skills as we build the company and product.

The right fit will be a self-starter and who works well in a small, tight-knit environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and organizational competence. We place an extremely high premium on self-sufficiency and concise, substantial communication. We are looking for a team player with a good sense of self awareness and attention to detail. An excellent candidate is someone who intuits when to take direction and when to take initiative, is motivated by challenges, and is committed to good work.

The successful candidate will be intellectually and creatively driven with knowledge of and interest in the tech, art and design communities. Our offices are in SoHo and the position is New York City based.

We are open to hourly/part time candidate at the start. For a full-time, salary position, compensation is dependent on performance review and experience. Equity options available.

 

Required Quantitative Qualifications / Experience

  • 2 to 5 years experience in agriculture, food service, technology or design
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience (pitching to investors, acquiring grants, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Apple Keynote and Google Drive (G Suite)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Desired Qualifications / Experience

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and marketing techniques
  • Degree in agriculture, design, technology or related field, or a demonstrated interest and experience in any of the related fields

Responsibilities

Fundraising / Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of sales and marketing presentation decks
  • Meeting with local farms and restaurateurs ( sales!)
  • Research and cultivation of fundraising opportunities
  • Participation in product pitches and investor meetings

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain P&L sheets
  • Manage deadlines and team deliverables
  • Participate in product research and client interviews
  • Participate in product testing and quality assurance
  • Design and maintain digital filing systems

Compensation

this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $40,000.00 - $70,000.00
