What You’ll Do

At Fair Trade USA, our copy and content embodies our steadfast values and unique mission. As Content Manager, you’ll anchor yourself in our brand to paint a clearer picture of who we are and how we connect people across the globe through a new way of doing business. Through stories and fact-based content, you’ll sit at the heart of building the Fair Trade USA brand and movement.

You’ll help develop a strategic communications plan, write strong, effective copy for the organization, craft robust website content during an upcoming relaunch, and proactively collaborate across departments. You’ll work to ensure all copy elevates awareness and deepens understanding of Fair Trade USA for both consumers and our brand partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and cultivate Fair Trade USA’s distinct voice and ensure consistent use across all channels
  • Be a champion for the consumer. Evolve all copy in a way that reflects consumers’ needs and translates what’s unique about Fair Trade USA into terms that actually influence purchasing decisions
  • Write outgoing copy for email, website, brand partner toolkits, co-branded campaigns, and offline assets
  • Write and post social media content consistent with all other content and work closely with digital graphics designer to integrate compelling graphics.
  • During website site relaunch, write majority of site copy and act as key contributor to overall process
  • Develop strong partnerships with business development reps to produce content that optimizes B2B needs/requirements on the website
  • Partner with digital communications senior manager on brainstorming and day-to-day management of the digital communications calendar
  • Optimize content for SEO/SEM
  • Work with analyst to establish and evaluate ongoing KPIs and refine work accordingly
  • Collaborate with digital and print designers on polished on-brand deliverables
  • Over time, become an expert in our global and local issues, facts, programs, and products to communicate our work and impact in a consumer-friendly tone
  • Understand the competitive landscape to evolve own our content so it stands out
  • Support internal consumer packaged goods business category

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in digital copywriting
  • Proven expertise in digital communication content strategy
  • Experience working with user experience and visual designers
  • Strong understanding of email marketing
  • Comfortable with big picture communications planning and hands-on execution
  • Superb copywriting skills
  • Ability to take complex topics and communicate them in easy-to-understand terms
  • Experience running email programs or ability to easily learn platforms
  • A self-starter; demonstrate the ability to work independently and execute projects on time
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality
  • Grasp of ethical consumer behavior and trends
  • Strong organization skills: self-directed and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple projects
  • Flexible and adaptable to emerging technologies and new environments
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with either digital agency or consumer brand, a plus

Compensation

this position is: salaried, 50k to 100k
