Tricycle Gardens is RVA's leading urban agriculture non-profit organization with a mission to grow healthy food, healthy communities, and a healthy local food system. Since breaking ground on our first garden, we have engaged thousands of neighbors and shown that the simple act of growing food is an incredibly powerful way to change the overall health of our community. This work addresses a myriad of challenging issues, and ultimately our mission is about FOOD: Focus on Community needs; Outreach and education; Opportunities for healthy food access; Design of beautiful spaces.

Job description

Tricycle Urban Agriculture Fellows participate in an 11-month long, part-time farm-based training program providing the following:

* A Certificate in Urban Agriculture offered in partnership with USDA-National Resources Conservation Service and Bon Secours Health System.

* Dynamic classroom instruction, both indoors and out

* Experience using sustainable agriculture skills and practices on urban farm sites 

* Network opportunities with local farms and food systems leaders

* Hands-on training provided by subject matter experts in all areas of urban agriculture

* Field trips to area farms and opportunities to attend regional workshops
