Umi is a home cooked meal delivery service. We find the best local cooks (you) and delivery their meals right to the dinner tables of happy neighborhood customers. We're coming from Brooklyn to Manhattan East and looking for talented home cooks! Because sometimes home is the best restaurant in town, especially when your talented neighbors are the ones behind those special weeknight meals.

We're looking to identify the best home cooks in NYC to run their own Umi Kitchens - people with that deep love for sharing the good food that we know New Yorkers are craving. Hope you'll apply to run a kitchen and tell us your home cooking story.

We're looking for the best local culinary talent - people cooking from their home kitchens, whether professionally trained or just plain incredible cooks. We'll provide a platform for you to share your home cooking with a broader audience in your community. You’ll set your menu and post your meal with a price and the quantity you'll be makingYou'll cook what you love for people in your community. We'll handle delivery so you can do the important stuff. 

In the app, each Umi home cook has a virtual Umi Kitchen: the spotlight is on your personal story and the true bond you feel with your food and the people you feed.

About the Team 
Khalil is a Yale Law / Harvard Business JD/MBA candidate, who spent 6 years as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army, deploying three times to Afghanistan. Hallie is a Yale College grad with a background in cooking, farming, food access and food policy; she started her own catering venture while at Yale in partnership with the Yale Sustainable Farm. Derek Gottfrid is the former VP of Product and Engineering at Tumblr, where he managed a variety of different teams and served as Tumblr's defacto COO. Previously, Derek spent a decade at NYTimes.com, where he led various efforts to build a news and information platform. He is fond of four-letter words, including “code,” “ship,” and "food."
