The Marketing & Communications Assistant (MCA) for the Bi-Rite Family of Businesses (BRFOB: Bi-Rite Markets, Bi-Rite Creamery, Bi-Rite Catering, and Bi-Rite Farms) is a key member of the Marketing team. The MCA is responsible for helping create and manage content across digital and print platforms that will achieve strategic BRFOB business goals. The MCA is responsible for supporting the Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) in cultivating close, collaborative relationships with the leadership and Buyer teams. This includes providing administrative support for the BRFOB’s marketing and community efforts, managing social media, coordinating and maintaining web and digital content, and developing product marketing copy.
Essential Functions:
-Coordinates digital and print communications including social media, internal newsletters, external newsletters, website content, and Instacart marketing deliverables to increase guest engagement
-Provides administrative support to the Marketing & Communications Manager
-Supports external marketing and community efforts, including Public Relations and external events
-Partners closely with the Visual Coordinator and Community Outreach Assistant to form a strong trio for peer-based problem solving and executing daily deliverables
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
-Learns, understands, and messages a cohesive BRFOB tone and voice
-Understands the goal, audience, and message of BRFOB campaigns and strategic goals
-Works with MCM to develop and execute a shared social media calendar
-Develops, edits, and disseminates copy and content across social media platforms and other marketing channels (including production of images and videos) in a timely manner
-Generates content with an aim to increase engagement rate and grow Bi-Rite’s digital presence
-Engages with BRFOB staff to encourage and champion staff contributions; supports and responds to staff questions regarding social media
-Serves as a Marketing Department ambassador throughout the BRFOB, supporting the larger goal of integrating successful marketing initiatives and encouraging interdepartmental collaboration
-Updates and monitors digital platforms (websites, social media accounts) in keeping with BRFOB strategic goals and campaigns, including look and feel of each platform in partnership with the Visual Coordinator
Administration:
-Assists MCM to disseminate weekly communications (internal and external)
-Supports Community team in dissemination of Community-related content as it relates to the Community campaign calendar
-Facilitates digital conversations with Community partners, and includes Community Programs Manager and Community Outreach Assistant in these conversations; responds in a timely manner
-Supports Instacart marketing deliverables and positioning to increase conversion of Instacart sales
-Gains an understanding of content impact and compiles reports
-Collaborates with MCM to demonstrate measurable success and impact of content marketing and facilitates improvement
Interpersonal:
-Takes initiative and proactively problem-solves with flexibility and can-do spirit
-Extends Bi-Rite Service Mission to internal staff and external community members (online and in person)
-Champions the values and missions of the BRFOB in both external and internal communications and interactions
-Employs clear and unambiguous communication skills to build and strengthen working relationships with diverse, multi-functional teams; handles feedback well
Qualifications:
-Exceptional written and oral communication skills
-Incredibly organized, with great attention to detail, self-directed. Ability to stay on task in a busy office environment
-Experience and inclination to work in a collaborative, team environment
-Proven success representing a brand using social media; demonstrated experience managing social media channels in a related position with an understanding of analytics
-Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Docs
-Proficiency in Mailchimp and WordPress
-Knowledge and love of food; awareness of contemporary food and community issues as related to the greater San Francisco Bay Area
-Photography and video production experience a plus
-Natural and exceptional customer service skills. Providing great customer service is wired into DNA
-Deep understanding of the Bi-Rite brand and passion for our mission of Creating Community through Food
Education Requirements:
-High school diploma or equivalent; BA in journalism, communications, marketing, or equivalent degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
-Physical ability to work at a computer for 8 hours when working a full shift. Ability to travel to and attend meetings
Compensation
