2016 Assistant Manager + Field Crew positions at Whistle Down Farm

Whistle Down Farm is a vegetable and berry farm near Hudson NY.  We grow for a CSA, farmers market, wholesale, and 5 food pantries in the Bronx, Harlem, and East NY through a partnership with Just Food NYC and United Way.  We have 6 acres in vegetable and berry production and another 10 acres in cover crops and straw.  

We are hiring for an assistant manager position and a field crew position for the 2016 season.  

For both positions we're seeking enthusiastic individuals with a good work ethic, problem solving skills, an ability to be proactive and think independently, a good sense of humor and positive attitude, and reliable transportation.

Pay for field crew position is $9-$10/hour plus produce.

Additional requirements for assistant manager position are:

• Must have at least 2 seasons of experience on a production vegetable farm and at least one season of tractor experience. 
• Experience with crew management, carpentry, tractor repair and maintenance, berry production, and mechanical weed cultivation all major plusses. 

Pay is $11-$14/hour depending on experience, plus produce.

We are fast-paced farmers that take our work seriously and strive for efficiency and a strong work ethic, but we don't run our operation like a monotonous machine - We really love farming and know how to have fun and laugh in the field, and enjoy getting to know the people we work with. We aim to create a work environment that is fun, educational, fulfilling, and positive for everyone involved.
