Job description
Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is a nonprofit farm and education center located in Pocantico Hills, New York. Stone Barns operates an 80-acre four-season farm and is working on broader initiatives to create a healthy and sustainable food system. Through our farm innovation and experimentation, Growing Farmers Initiative, children’s education programs, and diverse public awareness programs, we work to change the way America eats and farms.Stone Barns has an immediate opening for a Graphic Designer. Reporting to the Content Manager, the Graphic Designer will create lively, compelling collateral that engages the Center’s target audiences, builds support for the mission, and inspires action. S/he will work on a variety of design projects and will be responsible for coordination with printers and mail house for all print jobs. The scope of the position includes but is not limited to the projects outlined below.
Responsibilities Include:
• Work within the established Stone Barns Center graphic identity and expand upon it as needed/when appropriate.
• Organization and maintenance of Stone Barns photo library
• Design and production of:
o Print and e-communications: seasonal newsletters, email blasts, festival and conference collateral
o Fundraising collateral: letters, emails, sponsorship proposals, Powerpoint decks and corporate partnership collateral
o Signage (outdoor and indoor)
o Program and visitor experience collateral and brochures
o Product packaging
o Event invitations
o Evergreen brochures and backgrounders
o Ongoing updates to digital Annual Report platform
Required Skills and Experience:
• Commitment to Stone Barns Center’s mission
• A Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field, and 3+ years of work experience as a graphic designer
• Fluency in the Adobe Creative suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
• Strong command of Microsoft Office
• Excellent web skills: familiarity with basic web platforms, ability to utilize rich text editors and some html
• Basic digital photography skills
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to adhere to and work well under deadlines
• Ability to manage and work within project budgets
Compensation:
Stone Barns Center offers a salary commensurate with experience and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a 401k plan and paid time off. This is a full-time position.
This is a full-time position based at Stone Barns Center; some flexibility with work schedule may be possible for the ideal candidate who brings significant related experience.
