Job description
Sitka Salmon Shares, located in Middleton, WI specializes in delivering high-quality, responsibly-sourced seafood from small boat Alaskan fishermen to our Midwestern membership. We seek applicants who share our passion for providing sustainable wild-caught fish to Midwesterners and, more broadly, building a healthier and more sustainable food system in the communities where we live, work, and play. The successful applicant will serve as Salmon Shares’ point of contact for all of our outreach efforts in Wisconsin and Minnesota.Primary Tasks
- Act as community liaison between Salmon Shares and regional partners in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
- Assist in identifying and developing strategic partnerships with local food/community/sustainability organizations to support Salmon Shares’ mission and vision.
- Collaborate with Wisconsin Coordinator to oversee local Salmon Shares outreach events.
- Become cross-trained on a variety of company operations including warehouse support, packing orders, Farmers Market support, customer service support and deliveries.
- Develop new and exciting ways to engage our membership that provides them with a strong sense of community.
- Provide world-class customer service support for all regional wholesale accounts and CSF members.
- Continue to develop our Farmers Market program and seek new opportunities for us in this market segment.
- Work with Communications Coordinator to develop media content for event advertising and promotion.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Conservation, Fisheries Management, Sustainable Food Systems or Environmental Studies field preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Be comfortable serving as a company representative with area chefs, non-profits, members and the general public.
- Some CSA or sustainable food systems experience is preferable, but a genuine passion for change is most important.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Positive attitude a must!
- Independent judgment is needed to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload.
• Salary $33,200 plus performance based bonuses. Health insurance stipend and CSA share stipend. Fish seconds as available.
