Job description
Reporting to the UNISG Communications Director, the Manager is responsible for contributing to the development and execution of annual, integrated communications campaigns. Activities include participation in all aspects of the of the Communications Office, setting short-term priorities and collaborating with colleagues, and implementing online, print, and in-person initiatives in support of the university’s recruitment, outreach, and research programs.Job Responsibilities:
- under the supervision of the Director, assist in developing annual communications plans that support the development and growth of UNISG both nationally and internationally
- participate in day-to-day external communications activities, including writing, public and media relations, and promotion planning/execution; collaborate with Communications Office staff, students, and/or interns on selected projects
- ensure clarity and consistency of UNISG messaging across all platforms
- support English-language social media efforts
- produce quarterly communications report and distribute to key staff
- identify media opportunities within the UNISG community
- write original materials in English; translate existing and new material into English
- maintain the UNISG style guide and translation glossary for ongoing use
- develop and maintain relationships with key international media outlets, journalists, and food/gastronomy/education/research “big mouths”
- participate in major UNISG/Slow Food/food-education events, acting as an English-language communications representative
- identify opportunities for communications development within and external to the university
Requirements:
- university degree, preferably in journalism, public relations, marketing, public administration, or education
- minimum five years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing; preference for experience in the food/education sector; preference for experience in social media management; international experience a plus
- demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional networks
- demonstrated project management experience
- excellent communications skills and strong textual/graphic sensibility
- strong interpersonal communication and relationship skills, including ability and desire to work well as part of a team
- first language English; oral and written comprehension of Italian
- EU or joint-EU citizenship
- ability to travel for UNISG and Slow Food events, fairs, and conferences, including internationally
