Partner in worker-owned farm coop

Job description

Seeking two partners and assistance in turning our established certified organic vegetable farm in northeast Michigan into a worker-owned cooperative. Mark, a mechanic and Janet, a nurse bought this beautiful 55 acre farm in 2006 and became certified organic in 2012, growing garlic as a main crop but a large variety of vegetables, grains, legumes, and fruit as well. We have well-established market outlets and are seeking partners (new farmers) we can train/advise to eventually take over when we are ready to step back in 10 years or so. We want to stay here and help but be assured that it will remain in sustainable agriculture (we love our earthworms!).

Janet and Mark are raw vegans, working to transition the farm to vegan growing with cover crops, rotation, etc. We are seeking others who agree with this philosophy of life. Janet is willing to teach raw food preparation and preservation.

Details of gradual transferring of ownership as well as the financial and legal parameters around that need to be worked out. Experience in cooperative living is a plus.

Farm experience is not required but enthusiasm and a healthy vegan diet certainly are. We are seeking people who are  willing and able to do the hard farm work necessary to achieve this shared vision.
