About the Food Business School:
The Food Business School (FBS) is The Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA) new center for executive and graduate education. The Food Business School broadens the CIA’s commitment to the future of food education and leadership by providing cutting-edge, practice-based business education to corporate professionals, recent graduates and mid-career explorers. The mission of the FBS is to enable and empower entrepreneurial leaders to design, deliver, and lead transformative innovations that address the world’s most pressing food challenges—and its greatest business opportunities. The Food Business School is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and calls the CIA’s spectacular Greystone campus in Napa Valley its home.

Overview of the Position:  
The Food Business School seeks a passionate, outgoing professional to support its students while building its potent network of mentors and professional partners in the food industry. Part peer leader, part guidance counselor, the Network Director empowers the success of students by helping them tap into the Food Business School’s valuable professional network. This individual is the ultimate connector -- attending events and meeting with entrepreneurs and investors in the food space to build the school’s network and champion its students. We seek a mature, self-aware and charismatic individual who sees that this role is ultimately about helping FBS students thrive and succeed.

This is a part-time position that is intended to grow into a  full-time position within 12 months. Applicants should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area. There is an opportunity to perform a great deal of work from a home office. The team meets weekly in SF.

Responsibilities:
  • Build the FBS’s network through proactive outreach and leveraging networks of administrators and faculty in order to support and champion its students
  • Map the network (in an on-line CRM tool) and develop plans to strengthen any gaps
  • Support students through advising, guidance and referrals
  • Serve as a connector between students and mentors and representtive of companies within the food industry
  • Participate in industry events to advance FBS’ presence and mission.  (Travel necessary)

Skills / Qualifications:
  • Extraordinary networking skills; food industry experience preferred
  • Very strong interpersonal skills; well organized and professional
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to implement a tracking system or relationship management software
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a connector
  • Passion for and some knowledge of the food industry
  • Generous and humble; able to see that this role is about the students
