About the Job:
 
The NY Quality Control Assistant assists in organizing, executing, and recording data from daily QC sessions.  This position works closely with NY Production Manager, NY Roasting, and Quality Control Manager to help achieve Blue Bottle Coffee target roast/cup profiles.  
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Follow Blue Bottle cupping protocol, etiquette and schedule.               
  • Set up and conduct daily production cuppings alongside the Production/Roasting Department.               
  • Collaborate with Roasting team to ensure BBC standards (as specified by True to Intent) are being met.               
  • Log all data into appropriate specified database(s) and spreadsheets.               
  • Conduct Espresso QC three times a week on current blends used in all markets, NY regional offerings, and then log this data.               
  • Conduct Drip blend QC two times a week following specified guidelines and log data.               
  • Assist in processing green samples as prioritized by Green Buyer/QC Manager-includes performing green physicals, entering samples into Cropster using appropriate nomenclature, sample roasting/preparation, setting up cupping, participating in cupping, and gathering/logging all data from cupping session appropriately.               
  • Assist in the dissemination of that information to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain QC inventory of roasted coffee for QC purposes.               
  • Compile weekly report for QC department to include blend avg/brew reports/roaster preferred profile.               
  • Keep all work areas clean and tidy.               
  • Work on ongoing R/D projects associated with new products as assigned by QC Manager.
About You:
 
You have most of the following:
  •  High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)               
  • Completed 90 days at Blue Bottle Coffee               
  • Able to use online tools including Microsoft word and Excel, Google docs and apps as well as other online organizational tools.               
  • Basic math and computer skills.               
  • Spanish proficiency desired but not required.
