Job description
ABOUT USWe're a Progressive American Kitchen, tucked inside an awesome Urban Winery.
In 2011 my husband Michael and I opened two small businesses under one big roof in SE Portland (OR). One operation is Clay Pigeon winery, an urban winery specializing in Pinot Noir & Syrah from our great state. The other is our restaurant - Cyril's.
We use the term 'restaurant' because it's what people understand. People come here to be nourished, and trade funds for good food and drink. But we're different than your average restaurant. We serve simple and satisfying meals, and have an extensive selection of artisan cheese (see more about my cheese obsession here). You can wash it all down with a tight list of quaffable wine (some made by us, some made by others) and beer.

THE POSITION
We serve dinner six nights a week and host a variety of private events. We are looking for an energetic and focused food lover to join our team. This is a full-time position that involves daytime prep and evening line/expo shifts.
We have a unique and purposeful kitchen (induction and convection only) and a small, tight-knit staff committed to serving our customers and one another with great care. We operate in an open kitchen, so the hours that you spend working will be in the same environment as those that come to dine / relax. There are big windows with natural light, high ceilings, and enough space to move around, but not so much that it doesn't feel cozy.
As owners we are committed to cultivating meaningful relationships with our customers - think neighborhood joint - while helping our employees become the people they dream of becoming.
We are looking for a leader: someone both with sound kitchen skills and the ability to shepherd our team, menu, and vision as we continue to evolve as a business.
This job is perfect for someone who wants to cook / work with food for a living, but does not see themselves in a traditional restaurant kitchen. The environment is warm and inviting. The food is without hubris or bravado. If you love good food - learning about, making it, and sharing it, then we want to hear from you.
