Public Relations/ Marketing SpecialistSustainable Seed Co. is an organic seed company located in Chico, CA.
At Sustainable Seed Co., we're committed to the cultivation and preservation of heirloom seeds. We sell over 1,650 varieties of seeds, 30% of which we personally grow. What's not grown on site is sourced from American farmers, families and seed houses that share our commitment to sustainable, GMO-free agriculture. - Create and maintain databases of industry specific contacts for the purpose of promoting Sustainable Seed Co. (SSC)
- Keeps in contact on a regular basis with garden writers, bloggers and editors for the purpose of promoting SSC and its new products.
- Compose social media posts, monitor social media activities and report on all social media vehicles. Responsible for management and outreach of company blog, newsletter and media pages such as Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Twitter, Hootsuite, YouTube, LinkedIn, Etc...
- Manage existing newsletter subscriptions, produce new campaigns for acquiring subscribers as well as producing newsletters for each segment on a regular basis. Campaigns will be promotional, triggered or targeted to maximize sales and profitability.
- Write, design and produce Press Releases and manage the distribution through various channels such as online publishing and direct reporter contact.
- Assist with the management and refinement of company message and branding.
- Create and manage company media package including seed or gift cert to be mailed/emailed on demand
- Management of affiliate sales program by providing new strategies and artwork and responding to affiliate needs while identifying and recommending opportunities of growth
- Conduct research into new review sites and social media trends to identify sources of reviews/complaints. Recommend subscriptions as needed.
- Develop and implement content marketing strategy that translates business and marketing goals into meaningful content deliverables
- Assure that all content is optimized for search engines, sharing and distribution cross channels
- Create marketing and promotional materialsfor sales team, website, newsletters, and direct marketing needs.
- Design and launch direct marketing campaigns
- Create and execute comprehensive retention strategies focused on increasing product engagement, repeat purchasing and the lifetime value of our customers.
- Facilitate media interviews between key executives and members of the media.
- Conduct press calls and media desk-side appointments.
- Create unique, media-worthy concepts.
- Execute event planning for a variety of internal and external events/conferences/tradeshows.
HS diploma/GED required
Bachelor's degree
A minimum of two years' experience in Marketing, Public Relations and/or Customer Service preferred
Experience working with social media and review sites, including Yelp!, Google Local, Facebook, etc.
Highly skilled in identifying high priority needs which impact both company wide and/or market wide is required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce reports for all levels of management.
Ability to analyze information, identify problems, trends and offer sound courses of action or solutions.
Must be a motivated self-starter with extremely strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
Must also be detail and deadline oriented.
Advanced skills with MS Office with a heavy emphasis with Excel
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to take direction from various levels of management and to link multiple actions to the required outcome
Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff and client personnel.
