We are a family friendly organic cafe & market in a close-in SE Portland neighborhood with a well loved bulk and organic farm direct food buying club. We are looking for a few individuals who are interested in all aspects of our business: ie working as barista, cook, market clerk, and food buying club staff. We will provide cross training for the right individuals who want to join a hard working, energetic team and be a part of our food and family centered community. We work closely with local organic farmers, ranchers and other food producers, care deeply about the food we feed our families and its impact on our environment, and love connecting our members to the suppliers of their food. FOOD BUYING CLUB STAFF/BARISTA/COOK/MARKET CLERK
We have an immediate opening in the food buying club for the right person who possesses most of the below skills and a passion for local farm foods and sustainable agriculture, high attention to detail, organizational skills and excellent customer service skills. Duties will include managing large volume of incoming customer orders through our online ordering software and making sure all vendors receive their aggragated orders; managing vendor relations and intaking orders accurately; assembling customer orders from all products delivered; distributing customer orders while providing excellent friendly customer service face to face during a weekly pick-up window.
In the cafe, we also have an immediate opening for a skilled barista (recent Stumptown training preferred) and cook who can multitask while serving the best cup of coffee with excellent customer service, including a child friendly attitude. You should understand espresso extraction and be able to achieve milk texture consistently. Duties will include all aspects of operating the cafe & market, such as making all drinks, preparing food, slicing meat and veggies, taking orders, cash handling, sweeping, doing dishes, cleaning the toilets, stocking, pricing, checking out customers and more.
The positions are for someone hard working with a friendly attitude, great communication skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Punctuality and reliability are a must. Ideal candidates will be fast learners, intrinsically motivated, have a good sense a humor, and work well within a small team without the need of being micromanaged. We are especially looking for staff members who will take pride in their work and ownership of their duties and strive for excellence in everything they do.
Requirements:
~ Excellent customer service skills and outgoing friendly personality
~ Passion for organic and local foods and farms, farming experience helpful
~ Punctual, reliable, honest, detail-oriented and hard-working
~ High energy, positive attitude, sense of humor and willingness to grow
~ Ability to work independently as well as follow direction
~ Multi-tasker
~ Accurate cash handling ability and the ability to balance a till
~ Must obtain Oregon Food Handler's Card and OLCC Server's Permit
~ Must feel comfortable working alone for short portions of the day
~ Ability to physically move fast while also remaining accurate and keeping a clean station
~ Organized with good time management skills
~ Enjoy being around children & families
~ Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 lbs
~ 1+ years of barista and prep/kitchen experience
