Garden and Kitchen ManagerWaldorf - Inspired In-Home School
Preschool Program: 3 1/2 - 5 year olds
As we have an organic vegetarian menu at school, the Kitchen manager is responsible for preparing breakfast, am snack, lunch and pm snack 4-5 days a week. They also file menu claims with the USDA each day, keep up with the USDA standards, sanitation, grocery shopping within our budget (both weekly and bulk), and manage our Birthday celebrations and collaborate for our Fundraisers.
Our Kitchen Manager is also a teacher's assistant throughout the day. Responsibilities for this position, include providing a healthy, nurturing, creative and respectful environment for each child. Also, following our daily rhythm, Implementing age-appropriate sensory/art activities during a short time in the afternoon, fostering communication with parents and other teachers through daily interactions, and documenting development of children - especially around their habits and development during meal times and preparing and teaching a garden or cooking activity once a week.
As Garden Manager you get to design, plant, cultivate and harvest our vegetable garden and maintain our certified backyard habitat, all while educating our 3-5 year olds to do the same! Our garden is a foundation to our education and the Garden Manager gets to maintain and take ownership of the garden curriculum
Knowledge of and/or experience in a Waldorf early childhood environment is a huge plus.
M-Th (Fridays may be an option) 8-3pm + shopping = About 30 hrs a week
$11/ hr
