Job Posting: Urban Farmer and Educator
Reports to: Executive Director

Description: Full-time position beginning January 2015, with benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities:
● Develop and manage a productive farm on a 1.5 acre urban parcel in the Harambee neighborhood
● Oversee a team of interns to conduct day-to-day farm duties
● Lead an array of gardening classes and programs for children and adults
● Work with a diverse array of volunteers and partners with varying skills sets, to help further Victory Garden Initiative’s mission
● Support several projects, events, related to VGI’s mission
● Network and build community surrounding the farm Qualifications:
● Knowledge of small scale gardening and farming
● Experience teaching children and adults
● Experience with project management
● Knowledge about the food system and passion for improving it
● Ability to engage others in changing the food system
● Drivers License
● Ability to lift 50 lbs and carry-out farm/garden related manual labor activities
● Available some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of nonprofit work.
Experience using facebook, Linked-in, twitter and other social media tools Associates degree or higher
