La Cocina, San Francisco's first incubator kitchen (www.lacocinasf.org), is growing, and we need your help.

We are hiring our Social Entrepreneurship Manager position in order to develop and grow our existing retail component, as well other revenue streams, in order to better serve our clients as well as move our organization closer to economic self-sufficiency. We are looking for someone who believes in our mission, believes that the products from our participants deserve to be highlighted in the marketplace and also believes that non-profits can and should strive for economic self-sufficiency. Though this position begins at the Ferry Plaza Kiosk, it continues through to the revenue streams that we are consistently trying to find to support the work that we do and the community that we serve. In this position you will be working closely with staff and program participants to develop new programs and to measure their success with bottom-line results. The position will oversee a small staff of retail sales positions with the support of La Cocina staff.

Our mission is to assist low-income Latina, minority, and women microentrepreneurs in achieving economic self sufficiency by giving them access to affordable licensed commercial kitchen space, and to the training, technical assistance, and the access to new markets they need to turn their businesses into livelihoods. La Cocina opened its doors to program participants in 2005; in 2008 we obtained our own 501 (C) 3 and successfully transitioned to operating independently. We launched sales at the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market in 2007, and launched on-line Gift Basket sales in 2008. The Ferry Plaza Retail Manager will lead the launch and growth of La Cocina’s permanent retail space at the Ferry Plaza as well as Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market sales and La Cocina’s on-line gift basket program. 

Summary of Duties: 

The position will work with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator and Kitchen and Facilities Manager to manage and execute all aspects of La Cocina’s Ferry Plaza retail program as well as on-line gift basket sales. The position has a retail and bottom-line driven focus with some marketing and outreach aspects. We are looking for someone who is hungry to bring low-income entrepreneurs the visibility, success and recognition they deserve in the food industry as well as someone who would like to experience what it means to begin their own food business. The ideal candidate will be motivated to expand La Cocina’s retail presence, increase the financial viability of the businesses within La Cocina and have an eye on the bottom line. This position will manage hourly staff positions, inventory and some additional responsibilities. 

General Duties:
• Manage inventory, sales and sales reporting for all retail at the Ferry Plaza and Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market • Order all product for retail sales • Schedule rotating vendors for prepared foods • Maintain marketing presence and messaging for La Cocina businesses and La Cocina at Ferry Plaza • Create staff schedule and communicate with all employees • Ensure proper quantities of product and provide transportation of product between storage and store Gift Basket

Program Specific duties include, but are not limited to: 
• Manage inventory and all sales for La Cocina’s gift basket program • Collaborate on annual outreach campaign for gift basket drive • Work with staff to grow gift basket sales and strategy 

Qualification: 
• Excellent customer service skills. • Knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel. • Working command of math, (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing). • Valid CA Driver’s license • Sales experience or desire to sell product • Familiarity with food industry, food systems or non-profit administration • Punctual, reliable and industrious • Desire to learn • Spanish speaking a plus • Culinary experience a plus • Strong organizational skills • Knowledge of basic computer skills including word, excel and QuickBooks

Compensation:
Ah, yes, so important. The position is a start-up position and begins at $35,000 with full benefits. We are very excited and willing to talk about perks, bonuses and commisions based on sales from there.
