About Us:
Urban Tree Connection is an urban farming nonprofit committed to revitalizing and empowering Philadelphia communities. For over 25 years, UTC has worked alongside residents in the Haddington section of West Philadelphia to transform underutilized lots into productive farms and gardens, educating children and families on the value of nutrition, fresh food access and the environment.
About the Position:
The Development Director will raise general operating and program-specific funds through:

Creating a yearly development plan and budget

Actively identifying and building relationships with foundations, corporations, and public agencies

Working with program staff to develop content for proposals and reports
-
Crafting letters of inquiry, grant proposals, reports, and budgets Planning and implementing an individual giving campaign Directing and executing and comprehensive marketing and PR plan, including all marketing materials, social media and public relations initiatives for target audiences

Executing at least one fundraising event annually

Actively engaging full board, and specifically the fundraising committee, to reach the financial goals of the organization Working with ED to actively cultivate board leadership

Managing application and reporting deadlines for institutional gifts

Managing eTapestry donor database

Processing gifts and drafting acknowledgment/thank you letters to donors

Managing all public communications
Requirements
-
Five to seven years' non-profit development or related experience
-
BA/BS required
-
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Cooperative, collaborative approach
-
Experience running capital campaigns and success fundraising from multiple donor channels
-
Strong synthesis, research, and project management skills Advanced multi-tasking and time management abilities

Highly detail-oriented, creative, and flexible
-
Self-confidence and good judgment
-
Ability and willingness to work independently and with other staff members
-
Enthusiasm for youth and community development
- Direct experience with board development
-
Knowledge of food systems and working with disadvantaged communities

Experience working with small, growing non-profits during periods of growth and change
