Business Process & Projects Manager

Job description

This position is designed to be responsive to business needs and work on special projects and process improvements in all areas of the company. This position will become familiar with all the aspects of High Mowing and develop a familiarity with how the different departments work together. As projects are identified, the Process and Project Manager will work closely with the general manager and department leaders to create and implement solutions and improved processes.

DUTIES
Document key processes
  • Review current procedures that are written
  • Work in /shadow each department and identify which areas need documentation or have outdated documentation. 
  • Work with managers to update procedures manuals
  • Talk with crew members and managers to find out how to make documentation more user friendly
  • Identify processes that are more complicated than they may need to be
  • Identify processes that have the biggest cracks/potential for errors
  • Determine what documentation is to be used for training new people and incorporate that into the orientation process
  • Determine what documentation is for unusual processes that will likely need to be referenced each time the issue comes up, and figure out how to build in checks that the right steps are taken
  • Help create a company wide awareness that the consistency of processes is important and build in ways that we become accustomed to updating documentation when things change or new processes are created
Facilitate multi-department process reviews
  • Participate in brainstorms with GM and managers about process changes
  • Ask questions that help guide and facilitate the group to come up with improved processes
  • Provide follow through, support, and training during the implementation of new processes
Consider customizations to the web site and ERP software that will reduce errors and improve efficiency
  • Develop relationships with consultants and develop an understanding of what is and isn’t possible to customize within our system
  • Identify problem areas and inefficient workarounds and prioritize with input from managers and GM
  • Lead brainstorm and discussions about possible solutions
  • Work with GM and managers to determine how to address the issues
  • Research costs of solutions and compare cost-benefit of in-house solutions to outsourced software design solutions
  • Work with GM and managers on timelines and implementation of solutions
Review tools used in the add/drop (product development) process and provide input on how to improve the process and the information management that accompanies it 

Review resources and information we have for the sales team, and develop tools to better share this information 

Help with research, decision making, and implementation of IT purchases

Help with  research and decision making on other capital investments

Help with other projects that support the growth and evolution of High Mowing

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ideally at least 10 years experience in business
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing company
  • Strong systems and organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of databases and ability to work with consultants on software customizations
  • Facilitation skills
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team
