About the Position:
The Publisher manages a brands marketing and advertising sales strategy, both from a business, sales and technical perspective. He or she is responsible for creating sales strategies and tactics to meet and/or exceed sales goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:

Managing the national ad sales staff andthe brands marketing staff

Generating ad pages and revenue, digital advertising revenue, anciliary revenue from events and sponsorships

Strategizing problem accounts;
-
Developing new business for print and digital and for annual strategic plans, budgets and projections
-
Conducting weekly reporting and forecasting on pages and revenues for print and revenue for digital.

Managing the layout and positioning of advertising in each issue.

Working closely with marketing department to manage the development of sales materials, including media kits.

Possesing a full understanding of digital ad sales, planning and operations.
-
Be highly motivated, a proven leader and team player with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to reach key decision makers at all levels at the major U.S. ad agencies and be adept at establishing and maintaining client relationships.

Must have experience in communicating multi-platform brand offering including but not limited to: print, digital, mobile, and events.

Maintaining both client and agency relationships regardless of complexities.

Have a proven record of managing the important Editor/Publisher relationship.

Have proven success working with corporate PR personal for a strong brand position and voice.

Have a complete understanding of circulation dynamics and be able to effectively work with the circulation department to the betterment of the brand.

Analyzing client marketing objectives
-
Writing and developing customized proposals of promotional tie-ins and sponsorship programs for advertisers that impact revenue and add value.

Creating and overseeing the development of 360º programs; identify opportunities for multi-platform pitches.

Analyzing market competition for both accounts and competitors to determine the most effective pricing and sales strategies.
-
Identifying new and unique marketing opportunities to help grow underdeveloped advertising categories.

Must be able to identify and develop strategic partnerships that further the sales/marketing objectives of Organic Gardening.

Tracking, reporting and forecasting revenue.

Working with Sales Management to position the Organic Gardening brand in the marketplace.

Developing and overseeing communications and brand ID materials for Organic Gardening.

Managing department revenue and expense budget- both sales and marketing.
-
Conceptualize and create rationale for franchise programs/events that drive revenue and paging for the brand.

Be the first point of contact for Group Publisher related projects/programs.

Providing leadership and direction to the Organic Gardening Sales Team.

Managing entire sales team Organic Gardening of and their teams.
-
Interacting daily with sales staff (and management), ad agencies and clients to gain knowledge of their needs to create programs that further develop the advertisers relationship with Organic Gardening and their audience.

Overseeing all department activities and staff of Organic Gardening

Determining process to ensure work flow is meeting needs of clients, sales staff and management.

Working closely with other departments (editorial, circulation, legal, licensing) to ensure the proper execution of client programs/initiatives.
-
Working directly with and manages all 3rd party relationships (i.e. ad networks, ad exchanges).

Managing/consulting as needed on contract negotiations from concept to deal structure, resulting in new/increased business.

Ability to regularly travel to outside offices and markets as well as brand events and industry trade shows to meet with internal personnel and key clients/agencies.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of15 years of professional experience.
-
Experience in managing a multi-platform team and brand.Experience working in print/digital/and or promotional agency required.
-
At least 10 years of experience managing a staff.
-
A proven senior sales leader with the ability to drive a growing sales organization in a highly competitive market; will have established relationships within the advertising industry across the country including brand and agency relationships.

Creative and strategic thinker.Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Documented success in leading, building, coaching and negotiations.
