Job description

GROWING CITIES is a grassroots documentary film about urban farming in America (www.growingcitiesmovie.com).  It follows two guys on their trip across the country as they learn how cities are being revitalized one vegetable, bee, and chicken at a time.  The goal is to inspire people to engage more deeply with their local food system and empower them to create growing cities of their own—places that are healthier, more sustainable, and socially just.  The film has been featured on Indiewire, Treehugger, Grist, Civil Eats, Urban Farm Magazine, and others.    

POSITION GOAL:  To help carry out film’s audience engagement strategy by reaching out to and engaging individuals and good food organizations across the country.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Monitor latest happenings in urban farming world by reading blogs, research, newspaper articles, and mainstream news media
• Manage outreach platforms (e.g. facebook, twitter, blog, youtube) including creating content & networking with other organizations through these outlets
• Reaching out to various urban farming and good food organizations to let them know about screenings and to help plan new screenings
• Maintaining website, including adding resources, updating national urban farm map, and videos  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Schedule flexibility, ability to multi-task, self-motivation, and good organizational skills
• Basic MAC/PC skills important (ex. Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, Wordpress)
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Previous experience working with social media platforms
• Ideal candidates are passionate, resourceful, ready to learn, and enthusiastic about our mission – interest in sustainable farming is a BIG PLUS, even if you’ve not had much experience with outreach
