Background:
Growing Home Inc is a non-profit organization that grows and markets organic vegetables as a way to train Chicagoans facing work barriers to re-enter the job market.  Growing Home has two primary production facilities – the urban Wood Street Farm and training center in Chicago, and the rural Les Brown Memorial Farm in Marseilles.  The Les Brown Memorial Farm is a small, diversified vegetable and herb production operation, using direct sales and Community Supported Agriculture as marketing strategies.  Nearly 200 varieties of plants are grown on 3 acres of intensively managed land. The farm is uniquely scaled for minimum disturbance to the soil and environment, using human power and low impact tillage machines. The site serves as a secondary training facility for Growing Home’s transitional jobs program.
All Growing Home production practices, vegetables, and herbs are certified organic.
