Farmers Market Sales Associate – Thsitledown Farm
Location: Saugterties Farmers Market
Schedule: Saturdays, 8am–4pm
Compensation: $20-25/hr DOE
We're looking for an amazing sales associate to join our team and vend at the Saugerties Farmers Market for the summer season. Our farmers market stand is not just a place to sell food—it’s where we connect with our community and share our values around sustainable agriculture.
Role Overview:
As a Farmers Market Sales Associate, you’ll be the face of our farm, engaging with customers about our products, answering questions about our farming practices, and helping people make informed choices. You’ll also handle setup and breakdown of the market booth, manage sales, and keep our stand looking great.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and break down the market booth (tent, tables, displays, etc.)
- Maintain an attractive, clean, and well-stocked display throughout the day
- Greet customers warmly and answer questions about products and the farm
- Accurately handle cash and card transactions using a point-of-sale system
- Represent our farm with professionalism, enthusiasm, and respect
Requirements:
- Friendly, customer-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Punctual and reliable, with the ability to work early mornings and in all weather
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for several hours
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Interest in sustainable agriculture, local food, or farmers markets
- Prior retail or market experience a plus, but not required
