REPORTS TO: Farm ManagerSTATUS: Non-exempt seasonal, full-time position.
SEASON: Approximately April 27 – November 15, up to 6 days each week, including weekends and possibly some holidays.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Stonewall Farm is seeking a passionate and experienced Market Garden Assistant Manager (MGAM) to help lead the cultivation of approximately 2.5 acres of no-till, regenerative vegetable production. This full-time seasonal role up to 40 hours per week from April through mid-November, with potential for up to six days a week, including weekends and holidays. Additional hours may be available in the off-season through work in other areas of the farm, depending on interest and farm needs. For the right candidate committed to the long-term success of our regenerative agriculture program, this role may grow into a year-round Market Garden Manager position. The MGAM will work closely with the Farm Manager to coordinate seasonal planning, crop production, and crew leadership, supporting the farm’s mission as a demonstration site for sustainable agriculture. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on, outdoor work environment, has strong leadership and communication skills, and is eager to contribute to our CSA program, on-site Farm Store, and local wholesale accounts.

Crop Production & Planning
- Grow and harvest a wide variety of crops using regenerative farming practices, including no-till methods, cover cropping, composting, and biological pest management.
- Assist in seasonal planning and implementation of planting, irrigation, and harvest schedules.
- Prepare garden beds and greenhouse soil using compost and amendments; coordinate soil testing as needed.
- Ensure proper cover cropping during non-growing seasons to maintain soil health.
- Collaborate with the field crew to meet production goals for the CSA, Farm Store, and wholesale accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of crop production, yields, planting schedules, and input usage.
- Support NH organic certification practices (excluding paperwork).
- Collaborate with Farm Manager to select and purchase seeds, plant stock, supplies, and equipment in accordance with Stonewall Farm’s purchasing policies.
Team Leadership & Communication
- Supervise, train, and assign tasks to field crew members, volunteers, and interns.
- Oversee large volunteer groups (up to 75 people) when necessary, in collaboration with the Farm Manager.
- Educate team members and volunteers on farming techniques, safety procedures, and sustainability practices.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful team culture rooted in cooperation and continuous improvement.
Farm Operations
- Operate and perform basic maintenance of farm equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of greenhouses, sheds, and wash stations.
- Assist with sales, packaging, pricing, and delivery logistics to local buyers.
- Occasionally assist with care for small animals (e.g., chickens, goats, alpacas).
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall operation and mission of the Farm
Outreach & Education
- Assist with community events and educational workshops.
- Co-lead public and farm education programs with the Farm Manager and Education Director.
- Attend meetings, staff trainings, and agricultural workshops as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Note: We expect you to be physically able to perform your duties and responsibilities as identified in this job description.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum one season of experience in organic vegetable production (preferably no-till or regenerative systems).
- Strong understanding of plant identification, organic growing techniques, and sustainable food systems.
- Comfortable with hands-on outdoor labor in all weather conditions.
- Leadership and communication skills and a strong work ethic; must be able to train others and work independently.
- Basic computer skills (Gmail, communication with CSA members and wholesale clients).
- Ability to operate machinery and hand tools safely.
- Comfortable working around school-aged children and the public.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated with the ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Willingness and ability to learn, follow written and oral instructions, and accept feedback.
Physical Abilities
- Ability to walk, kneel, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs, including up to 30 lb bins over uneven ground.
- Ability to perform repetitive manual labor with attention to quality and efficiency.
- Ability to grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrists.
- Comfortable in environments with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, insects, and small critters.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Comfortable climbing to various heights
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to focus on detailed tasks requiring mental and visual attention

- Punctual, reliable, and responsible.

Use of farm equipment or assets for personal gain is prohibited, and confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Breeding or selling livestock for personal benefit is grounds for immediate termination.
Compensation is based on experience. $14 – $17/hours
