Company description

Garden Variety Cheese is a 40 acre farmstead sheep dairy located in Monterey County, California. We milk about 80 ewes and sell our cheese, yogurt, meat and eggs at Bay Area farmers markets, specialty retailers, and restaurants. We have been milking sheep and making cheese since 2009. We also raise heritage breed whey-fed pigs and laying hens.

Internship description

We are looking for a summer intern to assist with the production, packaging and sales of sheep milk and dairy products. This will be a three month hands-on paid internship with on-farm housing possible. Garden Variety Cheese is launching a new line of bottled sheep milk this summer and the intern will be involved in the marketing and promotion campaign. Responsibilities to include sampling product at local farmers markets and retail stores as well as assisting in the creamery with bottling milk and yogurt, making cheese and cutting and wrapping for market. No prior dairy experience necessary. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Clean driving record and valid license required for insurance purposes. Must be a currently enrolled college or university student. 20 to 30 hours/week,

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
