The Council serves all of Northwest Indiana with an emphasis on regional partnerships and collaboration. We build and strengthen relationships to support Indiana local food, education, and take action for a resilient food system for all involved.

The NWI Food Council cultivates a just, thriving and regenerative food system for all in NW Indiana. We do this through programs and projects that equally value farm viability and just food access, with an eye towards a community driven regional food system.
We envision a local food system where everyone has affordable access to nutritious food that is grown by regional producers using regenerative practices. Through community-based strategies, we work towards collaboration, healthy ecosystems, equity and and resiliency for all in NW Indiana.
Job description
JOB ROLE SUMMARY:
The Farmers Market Coordinator will manage daily and overall program activities relevant to implementation, reporting, partner engagements, agreements, and all elements of Double Up Indiana and other assigned nutrition incentive programs. This role is charged with improving access and consumption of nutritious food at Northern Indiana farmers markets for families receiving food benefits. The coordinator creates and carries out processes to monitor and report on overall program design, implementation, and evaluation and submits required reporting to the Indiana Department of Health Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity (IDOH-DNPA) Food is Medicine team. The coordinator bolsters communication efforts to bring more awareness to Double Up Indiana and collaborates with other Food is Medicine personnel at IDOH-DNPA. This position is granted-funded for 1 year with opportunity to continue dependent on funding and performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Manages all aspects of the Double Up Indiana program, a benefit extension incentive program for participants of the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to use at participating farmers markets across Northern Indiana.
- Supports outreach and storytelling efforts for Nutrition Incentive, Double Up, and Food is Medicine efforts in NW Indiana.
- Serves as a region representative on the Indiana Nutrition Incentive Network (ININ).
- Builds relationships with varied stakeholders to support the sustainability of the Double Up Indiana program in coordination with other Food is Medicine personnel at IDOH/DNPA.

Location: Office hours as needed but generally remote, good portion of time spent in the field providing farmers market and partner technical assistance throughout NW Indiana.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, 50k-75k
