Dépanneur: n Dépanneur (from the French verb Dépanner, meaning "to help out of difficulty" or "troubleshoot"; often shortened to "dep") is the name for convenience store, independently run corner shop, general store or deli, in the province of Quebec in Canada. We like to think of ourselves as a better bodega, hence our name Dépanneur, but we're not your typical corner store.
We strive to carry a collection of local, delicious, and innovative products from Brooklyn, NY state and around the world as well as sandwiches made with the highest quality ingredients sourced locally whenever possible and coffee beverages made with Partners beans and farm fresh milk.
Job description
We are currently in need of a strongly motivated individual with retail management experience that has a creative eye for display spreads, new product discovery.
Responsibilities:
Inventory & Purchasing:
-Oversee inventory accuracy and waste tracking.
-Source on-brand products beyond standard suppliers.
-Strategize purchasing based on seasonality, trends, and product performance.
-Adjust pricing in volatile markets and coach team on receiving/invoice management.
Store Operations & Maintenance:
-Provide HR/management support when primary managers are absent.
-Optimize schedules for peak coverage and productivity.
-Resolve customer/staff issues and ensure strong cash handling.
-Troubleshoot operational problems efficiently.
Sales & Merchandising:
-Lead special projects, signage, and displays with cohesive branding.
-Collaborate with GM on retail projects (deadlines, objectives, rollouts).
-Maintain store aesthetics, cleanliness, and organization.
--Design and manage merchandising, product grouping, and in-store displays.
Staff & Customer Service:
-Holds Store team and Self, accountable to all established standards of performance and behavior.
-Train staff on product knowledge and efficient customer service.
-Provide performance feedback and enforce shift responsibilities.
-Support team leads in creating promotions (e.g., drink specials).
-Assist with prep during staff shortages and drive business goals.
Ordering & Administrative Support:
-Experience in purchasing, and maintaining store supply as needed
-Code invoices and maintain records.
-Use order entry systems and cover for other managers as needed.
-Assist owners/management with recipe development
Requirements:
-Proven performance management skills
-Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization
-Demonstrated high level of integrity
-Maintain flexibility in a fast paced high-energy environment
-Team oriented and collaborative
-Able to receive and adapt to direction and feedback when appropriate
-Established time management prioritization and organizational skills
-Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead functional teams to deliver results
-Two to four years of retail management experience preferred
-Ability to communicate effectively with customers and store personnel
-Maneuver effectively around sales floor, stock room and office
-Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including evening and weekend shifts as needed. This is a full time position, open availability is preferred
