Food Matters Again is a specialized importer/distributor servicing the NY metro area and Southern New England. Our main category of business is with fine cheeses and charcuterie - but we also host an ever evolving mix of fresh olives, cheese accompaniments, and rarer specialty food items. Founded in late 2009, we focus primarily on independent retailers and foodservice and continue to develop a strong trade in our niche as an importer/distributor. In fact our expanded headquarters and import ranges enable a growth strategy for the coming years and this position is a part of that plan.
Job description
Our company is seeking a strong experienced outside sales person to join our NY sales team. Although our company distributes to other areas, the NY Metro is our main territory and of course the location of our main warehouse. With our growth the past few years into the Southern New England marketplace, our senior sales person and now Sales Director is based in Rhode Island helping to oversee the expansion north and east. So as 2025 unfolds we're creating a new position for this hire - and seeking the right candidate who can become a leader on our NY sales team.
This is a dynamic position - base salary is complimented by ample commission structure and opportunities. This role will involve both retail and foodservice sales - so we're definitely seeking someone who is capable in both areas.
As our company did for years before the pandemic, we are seeking to bring back tastings at the headquarters for our key NY clientele as well as scheduled days in the field for tastings/visits with both existing and prospective accounts. This is a true outside sales job - and the ideal candidate for this job brings the following qualifications in spades : cheese business experience as a retail buyer, substantial base knowledge of fine cheese category and best practices for the counter, and strong organizational skills. And it goes without saying most likely, but as always the right person for a sales job like this is a self motivated and ambitious type - ready to do the enthusiastic and disciplined work of a lead sales person.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $75,000.00 - $95,000.00
