The South Durham Farmers’ Market is currently seeking a year-round part-time manager (~30 hrs./week) who has passion for the local food and sustainability movement. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with great communication skills to manage the Market and assist with Market promotion within the community.
This is a hybrid position with ~4-6 hours a week in person, the rest being remote.
Responsibilities
- Preparation for and Attendance at Saturday market | 40%
- Communicates with Market vendors and the SoDuFM community via a weekly newsletter
- Attends nearly all (~50) Saturday Markets, including setting up and taking down Manager and Activity Tents, stations, and accessories
- Manage the EBT/SNAP program for the Market.
- Collects weekly market statistics
- Ensures vendors and shoppers are in compliance with market rules and bylaws
- Develops and coordinates Music and Educational activities at Market
- Supervises the assistant manager
Day to day administration, communication, and other tasks | 50%
- Create reports on general statistics for the Board monthly and the general membership yearly
- Report SNAP and Double Bucks activity to the Triangle Double Bucks program monthly
- Attending all regular scheduled grant related meetings including the manager meetings
- Data entry on all relevant Market statistics
- Communicates with vendors, customers, potential corporate and community sponsors, grantors, and others, serving as the public face of the market
- Maintain a regular Social Media presence for market, with help from Assistant Manager
- Works with Board subcommittees on fundraising and special market events
Monthly board meetings | 10%
- Prepare statistics, graphs, and monthly market information for board’s review
Attend first portion of board meeting and present monthly manager’s report
Provide insight to the health of the Market
Serves as liaison between Market vendors and the Board of Directors

Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $20.00
