Our mission is to provide our community with fresh, Organic produce and meats through our on-site farmstand and to increase awareness of Organic and regenerative agriculture through educational events.
Job description
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Market Team member to contribute to the daily operations of our Farm Stand and to our farm's growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Organic and regenerative farming, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage inventory, and a small group of staff effectively.
Year round, Full-Time (on average 40 hours/week).
Key Responsibilities:
Farm Stand Operations: Assist with the daily operations of the Farm stand, ensuring a welcoming and beautifully organized environment for customers. This includes properly displayed and stored produce, ensuring proper labels and messaging, chalk signs and other notices (sales, specials, seasonal changes).
Inventory Management: Oversee FIFO of inventory, communicate low inventory, assist with re-ordering and proper inventory of dry goods, and manage the walk-in freezer and walk-in coolers (at market and at the barn). Communicating low inventory to all staff and customers as appropriate.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to customers, addressing inquiries and teaching our farm's mission and product differences. This may include responding to Square messages, social media messages, and emails. This may also include accepting orders for any wholesale accounts.
Staff Supervision: Lead and train farmstand staff, ensuring adherence to farm policies and procedures. This may include updating the market SOP binder and coordinating coverage for all shifts.
Administrative Tasks: SNAP reports, overseeing petty cash, assisting with miscellaneous orders, updating Square, updating internal documents such as the Buy In Directory, assisting with seasonal decor, posting on social media.
Farming: All members of our staff will help in farming activities including harvesting, weeding, cleaning, organizing, transplanting, and more depending on the season.
Qualifications:
-A strong sense of urgency and purpose with a desire to learn will make up for any lack of experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to organize a small team (1-3 people) to accomplish short and medium term goals.
- Weekend availability, flexible schedule (within reason) to align with Farmstand operations.
-Physical ability to perform tasks associated with farmstand operations, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly and standing for extended periods.
-A strong understanding of Organic farming principles and a commitment to sustainable agriculture and a passion to learn.
-This is an in-person, on-site job and requires reliable transportation to and from the farm.
A plus, but not a requirement:
-A strong understanding of nutrition, home cooking, dieting, food borne illness, food systems, and ecology.
-Previous experience in retail management, farmers' market operations, farming, cooking, butchery, or a related field.
-Experience working with meat, vegetables, fruit, and dry foods with a working knowledge of how to handle, store, upkeep, and inspect.

Hours:
40-45 hours a week, 5 days a week including one weekend shift. Tuesday - Saturday.
Each shift includes 1 paid hour of break/lunch.
The position starts in March and must be available through the end of December, and we will give preference to candidates seeking year-round employment with a desire for growth.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
