Company description
Good Food Farm is a small diversified farm in Ashby, Massachusetts. We grow/raise/produce organic vegetables, maple syrup, forest-raised pork, raw honey, and pasture-raised eggs. Our food is primarily sold at farmers' markets in the Boston area. In addition, we sell to local food aid organizations and a few restaurants.
Job description
Crew members are self-motivated, hardworking, kind individuals who contribute to daily farm operations, including production, harvest, and processing. Crew Members at our farm are expected to approach their responsibilities with an eagerness to learn and willingness to be a part of the team.
Areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to the following:
Production - Planting and transplanting, including greenhouse propagation. Trellising, fencing, and irrigating. Cultivation/weed management by hand and hoe. Feeding, watering, and rotationally grazing chickens.
Harvest/Post-Harvest: Processing weekly harvest of our diverse selection of vegetables, microgreens, and flowers. Washing and packing produce for market and wholesale delivery. Egg collection, washing, and packing
Position is seasonal and will begin late May and run through October. 40 hours per week. Schedule may include some work/chores on Saturday.
Housing: If needed, on-farm housing is available for rent. Private room in our beautiful farm house for $700 per month + utilities.
Qualifications/Requirements
-Driver's License (for help with deliveries/markets)
-1 year farming experience (or experience in a related field)
-Ability to manage frustrations that come along with farming by being good communicator and problem solver
-Willingness to perform repetitive tasks
-Must know how to dress for and be willing to work in all kinds of weather: rainy, cold, muggy, buggy, sunny, hot

About the Area: Ashby is a small town in north central Massachusetts (45 minutes north of Worcester). We are just a stone’s throw from the New Hampshire border and just over an hour outside of Boston.
Nearby towns include:
-Peterborough, NH (very lively arts community with great restaurants, music, theatre, bookstore, coffee shops)
-Fitchburg, MA (small city to our south, home of Fitchburg State University, train station to Boston, YMCA, etc)
-Milford, NH (drive-in theatre, great farmer’s market, restaurants, coffee shop)
Methods:
-We use only OMRI listed amendments
-Rotational Grazing
-No synthetic pesticides or herbicides on our farm
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
