Job description
The Lareau Farm is looking for a member to join our events catering staff. Located in Vermont's Mad River Valley, Lareau Farm Catering partners with local farms and producers to showcase Vermont’s thriving artisanal food and beverage industry. On-site is a small, yet productive diversified-vegetable operation that directly sources our kitchen with organic fruits, vegetables, and humanely raised animal products. When sourcing beyond our garden, LFI catering supports local farmers who use practices that promote environmental health and social and economic equity.
The LFI catering team’s rustic outdoor kitchen is highlighted by American Flatbread’s trademark clay oven and hardwood grills. For over 35 years - wood has functioned as our primary cooking fuel and in-tandem with responsible sourcing, are the foundational elements of the brand. When not cooking with wood, staff have access to indoor commercial kitchen spaces.
Event Season runs mid- May through mid-November, with occasional events throughout the winter. Event season duties center on executing our catering program- food preparation for weddings, private parties, corporate events, off-site events, art workshops and much more. We are currently fully booked for the 2025 season, setting us up for a busy season.
During the off-season, this role will support the Lareau Farm Inn operations and culinary program- which include but are not limited to preparing breakfast for Inn guests 5 days/wk, cooking for private events. Winter hours are reduced, on average 30 hours/wk.
Compensation details:
Salary: $52,000 + share of service charge (see below)
Additional Income: Service charge- distributed per event/shift (averages~$200—$400/week)
Paid Time off: 2 weeks annually, plus compensatory time (Holidays, Overtime, non-regular work shifts)
Sick Time: 20 hrs
