The Civic Kitchen seeks an experienced, full-time Class and Kitchen Manager for our cooking school in the Mission. This person will work closely with our cooking teachers and staff to provide students with a fun, educational, and safe class experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment, and has exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. We seek a team member who radiates hospitality, enjoys a collaborative environment, fosters a positive work atmosphere, and works independently to manage diverse tasks with flexibility and efficiency. Responsibilities:
● Support cooking teachers by acting as lead for classes and events
● Guide team workflow before, during, and after class, including kitchen set up before class, problem-solving during class, and post-class kitchen clean up
● Greet and host guests while radiating hospitality
● Educate team members and guests about best kitchen practices
● Communicate with Operations Manager regarding class operations, inventory, facility maintenance, etc.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility
● Enforce guidelines in, and provide feedback on, staff handbooks and checklists
● Attend weekly staff meetings
Qualifications:
● Kindness and a passion for excellence in hospitality
● Detail-oriented and organized
● Curiosity and enthusiasm for food, cooking, and education
● Enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
● Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
● Food Safety Certification
Physical requirements:
● Able to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn
● Able to lift 25 pounds
● Able to work on your feet in a fast-paced environment for extended periods

* $33-35/hr DOE
* Opportunity for gratuities from Private Events
* Full time position: Hours are either 4 evening classes per week (3:30pm-11:30pm) and 1 weekend class per week (generally 8:30am-4:30pm or 12pm-8pm) OR 5 evening classes per week (3:30pm - 11:30pm)
* Eligibility for health insurance after 60 days of employment
