Job description
The Produce Prep Lead is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and quality of produce preparation in the warehouse.
This role involves leading the prep team, maintaining inventory records, enforcing quality standards, and ensuring proper handling and organization of produce and other prepped items.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead team of warehouse associates to execute the produce prep and produce quality assurance.
- Conduct quality checks on at least 2 bags per assigned batch to ensure quality and weight accuracy.
- Monitor and direct prep team efficiency, ensuring a 30-second packing rate per bag.
- Maintain and update the weekly inventory sheet in real time, ensuring clear visibility of produce prep status for the next day.
- Utilize FIFO (First In, First Out) method when selecting produce cases and coordinate with the other departments for proper labeling of produce cases.
- Ensure all finished produce prep bins are labeled and dated correctly.
- Lead prepping of non-produce items (e.g., grains, half-dozen eggs, frozen ramen) based on priority guidance from the Manager and Procurement team.
- Perform quality assurance (QA) checks as needed and report results in Slack, detailing shrink vs. sellable product.
- Perform produce cycle counts.
- Store all prepped produce items in their designated locations, assisting the other departments in proper reslotting using FIFO.
- Maintain cleanliness of the prep area.
- Conduct packaging counts to ensure produce prep packaging is always in stock. Audit packaging pricing and sustainability standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in produce quality, food prep, or inventory management roles preferred.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to uphold produce quality standards.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with physical tasks (standing, lifting, organizing).
- Basic computer skills to update inventory sheets and communicate via Slack.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $20.00 - $25.00
