Job description
Position: Grants Manager
Reports To: Director of Development
Benefits: Benefits include health insurance (currently 100% premium employer-paid), retirement investment options in a 403(b) tax-deferred account, and three weeks of paid time off in the first year plus holidays. Employees receive a $500 a year Professional Development stipend, 5 hours of continuing education required.

About the Position
The Grants Manager is an integral member of the Development Team and serves as a primary liaison between the organization and its grant funders. This role is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals that align with the organization's strategic objectives, funding goals, and programmatic needs. The Grants Manager is a central figure alongside the Development Director and programming teams in grant funder relationship management, grant compliance, and financial oversight for grant-funded initiatives. This position is a collaborative role that works with the Executive Director, Development Director, the Operations Director, and all programing teams to meet annual fundraising and growth objectives and is directly for Georgia Organics maintaining reporting standards, grant budgets, and compliance records.
This position is part of Georgia Organics team which is primarily remote. Monthly travel to in-person staff meetings in Atlanta should be expected and a minimum of 20% in-person meetings and travel. This is a position based in Georgia.
Responsibilities
Grant Proposal Development & Submission
Identify and research funding opportunities on local, state, regional, and federal levels.
Lead the development, preparation, and timely submission of all grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and funding applications.
Collaborate with programming teams to draft compelling proposals, narratives, budgets, and supporting materials, coordinating alignment between program staff, finance, and executive leadership.
Submit applications through various online portals or by paper as required, maintaining secure records and credentials.
Relationship Management & Communication
Cultivate and sustain relationships with current and prospective grant funders, strategic partners, and stakeholders at multiple levels (local to national).
Coordinate and work with programming teams, when necessary, on leading funder site visits, meetings, and presentations.
Execute thank-you communications and coordinate grant agreement finalizations.
Work with the Communications Manager to ensure acknowledgment of funders through online platforms, newsletters, social media, and other public channels.
Grant Compliance & Reporting
Monitor and support consistent management of grant reporting schedules, requirements, and compliance standards.
Track progress on grant-funded project goals, metrics, and outcomes; work closely with program staff to gather programmatic data.
Work with programming teams to draft detailed progress reports, program updates, and success narratives for funders, utilizing platforms like blogs, press releases, and social media as appropriate. * This responsibility will transition fully to the grants manager by 2026.
Work with the Operations and Programming team to coordinate and drive the development and submission of financial reports, reimbursement requests, and supporting documentation.
Data & Financial Management
Partner with the programming and finance teams to develop and manage grant budgets ensuring compliance with organizational and funder financial guidelines.
Maintain a comprehensive calendar and tracking system for grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewals.
Keep detailed, organized records of grant documentation, including budget reports, evaluation outcomes, funding applications, and correspondence.
Research & Data Gathering
Conduct research on relevant statistics, trends, and community needs to support grant proposals and advocacy efforts.
Assist in creating presentations and data reports for internal and external stakeholders, aligning with strategic goals and organizational impact.
Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development, with a proven track record of successful grant acquisition.
Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee and collaborate on complex, multi-stage projects and deliver results on schedule.
Proficiency in budget development and financial reporting for grant-funded programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting compelling, outcome-focused narratives.
Familiarity with donor databases and online grant management systems.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply funding guidelines, maintain detailed records, and ensure compliance.
Strong ability to collaborate and work across diverse teams and interests as well as delegate.
Demonstrated familiarity with local food systems development strategies and the associated funding sources, including government grants and philanthropic support.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, 50k-75k
