Job description
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting the Chef de cuisine and sous chef in planning and executing a creative and seasonal menu
- Overseeing and participating in the preparation and cooking of dishes to ensure consistency and excellence
- Managing and training kitchen staff, including delegation of tasks and guiding development
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
- Monitoring inventory levels and assisting in ordering supplies and ingredients as needed
- Contributing to menu development, recipe creation, and innovation in culinary techniques
- Collaborating with the culinary team in upholding the restaurant's reputation for excellence in dining experience
Your experience and skills include:
Experience: At least 2 years as a Sous Chef or in a similar role at a high-end restaurant, with a solid track record in the kitchen.
- Proven experience in a high-end restaurant kitchen, preferably in a similar fine dining establishment
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred
- Strong passion for food and creativity in developing new dishes
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively lead and motivate a team
- Flexible availability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen operations
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and plating aesthetics.
- Experience in Michelin-star or high-end dining is a big plus.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a kitchen team while juggling multiple tasks.
- A creative flair for innovative cooking and a passion for pushing culinary boundaries.
- Great communication skills and the ability to work well with everyone, including front-of-house staff.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest quality and service standards.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, 50k-75k
