Lee's Edible Acres, a thriving diversified vegetable farm in North Liberty, Indiana, is seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Seasonal Farm Crew Member for our 4th season! Committed to sustainable practices and soil health, we utilize both protected culture (high tunnels, propagation house) and extensive outdoor fields, employing both mechanical and manual cultivation. Our fresh, high-quality produce reaches customers through wholesale markets, farmers markets, and our on-farm roadside stand. As a Farm Crew Member, you will report to the Farm Coordinator and play a vital role in supporting all aspects of our agricultural operations. You will learn about and actively participate in the growth and harvest of a diverse range of annual vegetables, perennials, and berries, as well as contribute to beekeeping, chicken care, and other farm projects. This is a full-time seasonal position, offered from mid-April through mid-November (with flexible start/end dates). The regular schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, for 40-45 hours per week. Please note that the farm schedule is weather-dependent and may require occasional adjustments, including longer days or weekend work. Bonus hours are also available for staffing our farmers market booth.
Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Seasonal farm tasks: land preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting, and ongoing farm maintenance.
* Following daily work plans from the Farm Coordinator to ensure efficient production schedules.
* Harvesting, washing, packing, and sorting produce; creating flower arrangements.
* Monitoring and addressing plant health issues, including pest and disease management.
* Assisting with local produce deliveries as needed (valid driver’s license required).
Qualifications:
* Minimum 6-9 months of experience working on an agricultural farm.
* Demonstrated knowledge of (or experience with) harvesting, processing, seed starting, field planting and transplants, field maintenance, irrigation, bed preparation, and produce cleaning.
* Experience caring for chickens and/or bees is a plus.
* Experience operating light farm machinery is a plus.
* Proactive, self-motivated, and possesses a strong work ethic.
* Organized and efficient time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
* Positive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
* Effective communication skills and ability to follow directions.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
* Passion for farming, a willingness to learn, and adaptability to varied tasks.
* Physical stamina and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks (harvesting, planting, digging, etc.).
* Ability to stand, crouch, and sit for extended periods.
* Good manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as sowing and harvesting.
* Ability to safely lift and carry 50+ lbs and perform repetitive movements.
