FoodLab© is an award-winning nutrition education program for elementary, middle, and high school students in which they up their food literacy game through tasting, cooking, and discovering food science. We explore principles of botany, chemistry, and nutrition science through age-appropriate lab experiments, tasting seasonal foods, and preparing nourishing snacks. 

Job description

Elementary school educator to teach pre-k and elementary school food science and plant-based culinary arts classes in an after-school program at a New York city independent school. Hours: 2:45-5pm 3 days a week.

Specific tasks include: Collaborating on creation of lesson plans, lab work and recipes; Prepping food and setting up classroom; Teaching cooking and baking; Teaching/leading kitchen science Lab work; Clean up. 

You should be energetic, positive, curious, patient, detail-oriented, and a team player with appreciation and affinity for working with children, plant-based cooking, nutrition education, and a sustainable approach to cooking and eating.

 

 

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
