A Lead position with oversight/execution of processing and packaging, CSA, and wholesale activities for a USDA Certified Organic farm.
About the Role:
Two Gander Farm is seeking an organized, dynamic, and collaborative Distribution Manager to join the leadership team and run a critical component of our operations: Distribution. We have a close partnership with the Chester County Food Bank and your role might occasionally require interaction/communication with food bank employees and volunteers. This is a Lead role with expectation of year-round (non seasonal) employment.
Responsibilities:
With the support of three dedicated seasonal employees, you will provide oversight/execution of:
Processing and Packaging (packhouse procedures, organization, routine tasking): Ensure daily/weekly/monthly packhouse routines are conducted efficiently and with care for storage, washing, and packaging of produce. Maintain awareness of and adhere to produce quality standards as well as the schedules and demands of the farm as a whole.
CSA: Coordinate the CSA program for the farm. Ensure smooth operation of the CSA throughout the growing season, handle customer inquiries, refine and execute delivery/pick-up procedures.
Wholesale product agreements: Manage ordering, invoicing, packing and distributing for wholesale customers.
Other responsibilities include:
Work closely with Harvest Manager, farm owner, Two Gander team, and our members and partners to implement the farm's goals and targets for the year.
Perform recordkeeping for the distribution segment of Two Gander Farm.
Occasionally assist with farm outreach and communications (i.e. social media and marketing) efforts.
*Required Qualifications:
Previous farming experience with ability to routinely lift/transport up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor weather conditions.
Working knowledge of farm post-production/distribution in the areas listed above: Processing and Packaging, CSA, and Wholesale, with particular expertise in at least one of these areas.
Interpersonal communication: Able to provide clear daily tasking and dependable issue resolution for a small group of seasonal employees; able to communicate effectively with team members across Two Gander Farm.
Written communication: Routine written exchanges (such as emails, invoices, orders) for distribution segments. Willing to learn and perform distribution recordkeeping and follow distribution procedures.
Organization and reliability: Help meet Two Gander Farm's goals for the season by ensuring post-production practices run smoothly, our CSA members and wholesale partners are satisfied, and connection to our community is strong.
Possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record - this position requires the operation of motor vehicles for a variety of purposes, such as transporting farm products, travel between locations and making deliveries to our wholesale customers.
