Hungry Reaper Farm is a diversified vegetable farm currently operating on 8 acres between two locations in Morris, Connecticut. We operate a 100-member market-style CSA, vend at the Farmers Market of Black Rock and the Westport Farmers Market, operate a farm stand in Morris, and serve a number of wholesale accounts including New Morning Market, The Market at Bantam and Northfield, and the Northwest Connecticut Regional Food Hub. Hungry Reaper seeks several farmers to operate alongside our current team of four. Hungry Reaper seeks to provide a fun, collaborative, fulfilling, and supportive environment through clear and consistent communication. Hungry Reaper understands that farming is a labor intensive and physically demanding profession and seeks to strike a work life balance for all. Job description
The Full or Part Time Farmer will be responsible for assisting in the production, harvest, and marketing of vegetables. Additional responsibilities may be added based on the employee’s skills, interests, and professional development goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in all aspects of production including seeding, field prep, timing of successions, cultivation, weed/pest management, harvesting, and storage.
- Occasional Use and maintenance of farm equipment including tractors, walk-behind tractors, seeders, harrows, mowers, hand tools, etc.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm areas.
- Drive various farm vehicles for farm activities including markets, deliveries, errands, etc.
- Working one or more farmer’s markets with one other team member.
- Staffing the farm stand.
- Assisting in construction and maintenance of farm infrastructure.
- Both collaborative and independent decision making.
- Specialization in particular areas of production based on skills and interest.
- Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Weekly meetings with farm managers.
- Communicate needs (schedule, medical, personal, etc.) with as much notice as possible. Preferably at least a week’s notice for changes in schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience on a vegetable farm is preferred, but not necessary.
- Exhibits strong curiosity and capability to learn and adapt.
- Ability to harvest, wash, and pack high quality produce efficiently.
- Able to lift about 50 lbs, or the willingness to ask for assistance if needed.
- Ability to operate with autonomy.
- Excellent time management and strong sense of pace and urgency.
- Strong communication skills, positive mental attitude, and solution-oriented.
- Strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.
- Valid drivers’ license (to fulfill job duties)

POSITION DETAILS
- Part or full time, May through October with the potential of Winter work.
- Up to 40 hours per week, 5 to 6 days per week.
- Flexible Start Date: 4/15
- Flexible End Date: 10/31
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- $17-$20/hour
- Annual Clothing/tool stipend (PT $100, FT $200)
- Paid vacation days during the growing season (PT 2-3 days, FT 5 days)
- Professional Development/Conference Stipend (FT)
- Unlimited vegetables (PT & FT)

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
