Job description

Greenhouse Seasonal Assistant                              

Position Overview:                              

The Greenhouse Seasonal Assistant will work closely with both the Greenhouse Manager and the Head Grower in the day-to-day operations of the vegetable market garden, microgreen and cut flower operations.  We have a small team, so the ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude and good communication is prerequisite.  This is a physically demanding position and requires some prior experience in farming, gardening or a related field.  This is a full-time position and some weekend work may be required.  

Core Responsibilities:

●      Assisting with all daily greenhouse chores

●      Weeding

●      Bed preparation 

●      Transplanting

●      Harvesting

●      Irrigation 

●      Washing, packing and post harvest crop handling

●      General landscape care: mowing, weed whacking, etc.

Additional Roles: 

●      Value adding and handling of dried flowers and herbs and other types of collections needed in prep for farmers market/accounts

●      Assistance with fertility and cover crop management

●      Help tracking production metrics

●      May need to assist at weekend farmer’s market

Qualifications: 

●      Experience working outdoors in some capacity: farming, gardening or related fields

●      Reliable and hard working 

●      Ability to work as part of a team collaboratively and alone

●      Excellent communication skills

●      Enthusiastic and positive attitude

●      Valid drivers license needed to fulfill the job duties

Physical Demands:

●      Ability to work outside in sometimes inclement weather conditions

●      Manual dexterity: lifting, sitting, bending, kneeling, twisting, loading and unloading materials for markets and general physical coordination

●      Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds or more occasionally

Compensation

this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $20.00
