When appropriate, Jason acts as clients' Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) when recruiting and managing entire teams to execute custom campaigns.
Job description
If you're a senior-level, US-based Salesperson with 8+ years representing a specialty food brand (artisan cheese, specialty crackers, high-end jams, etc.), I'd love to hear from you. My client, an award-winning specialty food brand with national distribution, has a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid track record representing (and growing) specialty foods.
Responsibilities: The future Sales Director is responsible for
- expanding the brand's nationwide coverage with additional placements to existing accounts
- opening distribution to new key retailers using your established network, and cold-calling potential new opportunities
- building relationships with retail buyers and decision makers
- driving the annual account planning process including promotion schedules, category reviews, in-store marketing support, etc.
- managing brokers and deciding if/when to let them go based on performance
- daily interaction with founders, marketing and support team at the home office
- regular travel (20-30% estimate) to the home office, client/retail locations, and events, with occasional weekend duties
Qualifications: Potential candidates will have
- a solid track record of successfully representing a specialty food brand, in a National Sales Manager or Sales Director role
- demonstrated understanding of buyer behavior, drivers, category management, etc.
- experience developing and constantly refining B2B sales plans capable of growing a specialty food brand's distribution
- an aptitude for data analysis and experience with Excel
- a substantial rolodex of national connections with decision-makers allowing them to hit the ground running, as this is a senior-level position with goals to match
- a strong reputation in the specialty food industry
- a history of successfully managing brokers
- the legal authorization to work in the United States without restriction
Compensation: The chosen candidate will earn
- $90K-$100K+ base salary, DOE
- bonus tied to performance metrics
- health and dental
- 10 Vacation days, 5 Sick days
- Participation in company’s profit-sharing plan after eligibility period
Those with at least 8 years of experience working in Sales, representing a specialty food brand will be considered. Interviews are expected to begin in mid-January, and the hired candidate will start in the next 30-60 days. As always, all communication with candidates is confidential.
